Jinhang Zhang Secured a Position at SAIC through Passion and Persistence
Recently, Jinhang Zhang, an undergraduate from the class of 2026 majoring in Industrial Design at the School of Art Design and Media at ECUST, secured a position at SAIC Motor Corporation for the position of Automotive Styling Design.
Looking back on his job-hunting journey, Zhang described his journey with three keywords: focus, direction, and composure. He also proved with practical actions that complete dedication is essential to making one’s dreams a reality.

After establishing his career goal of automotive styling design in his sophomore year, Zhang committed himself fully to his field focusing on developing his professional expertise. During the 2025 job-hunting season, he focused on developing a complete vehicle design project.
It took him six months to complete, involving repeated sketch revisions, rendering iterations, and surface refinements. He eventually stood out among outstanding students and won the “Rising Star Prize” at the 13th SAIC Design International Challenge. This achievement also became a key credential in securing his position.
Solid professional ability is the key to entering the workplace. After defining his direction, Zhang gradually gained a clear understanding of the industry and developed his own learning methodology with the guidance of his teachers.
During the preparation for the challenge, he developed a rigorous plan, systematically analysed industry trends and polished design details, laying a solid foundation for his internship. During his internship at SAIC Motor last summer, he focused on improving his presentation skills, refining his logic and rehearsing his presentations repeatedly, growing increasingly composed during project reviews.
At the end of November last year, Zhang received the employment notice from SAIC. This achievement stemmed from his long-term passion and persistence. He said he chose SAIC for its well-established and international design team, hoping to grow professionally and contribute to the automotive design industry. He noted that success does not come overnight, but requires focus, dedication, clear goals, and unwavering passion.
